The Institute for Theological and Leadership Development (ITLD) is an
educational and theological institution with a university level of study. The
Institute is owned and sponsored by the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman
Islands. The Institute (ITLD) was established by the Synod of the United Church
in March 1989 and began operation on September 1, 1989.
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Institute for Theological and Leadership Development (ITLD)
is to equip men and women for wide varieties of Christian vocations in the
following disciplines:
1. Christian Ministry
2. Church and Community Work
3. Guidance and Counselling
4. Youth Ministry
5. Lay Pastor’s Work
The B. A. Degree in Theology and the B. A. Degree in Guidance and Counselling
are accredited programmes of the University Council of Jamaica (June 2001).
